OUR DOGS AT PLAY

We give our puppies the best possible start. From the very beginning we start preparing our pups for their futures in family homes, show rings, or working positions. How do we do this? WE PLAY BALL! Playing ball is a very motivational way of enhancing your puppy's natural drives and starting a focus point that will help in future training. Not only is playing ball a wonderful exercise for your pup it can also help you to control any negative behaviors. We like to say our dogs are "BALL CRAZY"!

All our pups are handled daily by family members and friends. Our families also contribute to helping us develop very social and well rounded dogs. They share in the ball playing, games of tug, and building confidence with motivation! We try to expose our dogs to many different situations and environments while always keeping their health in mind. Our pups know it is 'okay' to meet new people, new animals, and to be in new situations. They are ALWAYS rewarded with a game of tug or ball! This reinforces their social behaviors.

We also start to develop the working drive in each of our dogs. How do we do this? Well, we play TUG! A game of Tug is a way to earn your supper and earn your way out of the crate. Our dogs want to work because we make everything a game. They want to please because everything we do is done with motivation!

Here at Southern Storm Kennels we always try to keep in mind the many roles our dogs can play in the world today. So, from the time our puppies are born we start to develop all their natural drives and instincts. This gives us great confidence that our dogs can be a vital factor in any role they play; whether that be as a family member, a working dog, or a show dog.
